WEEKLY STUDY QUESTIONS 2
The Creation and Fall of Man
Answer thoroughly the following questions based on this module/week’s Reading & Study
material:
1. Define “evolution.”
Evolution, as represented in Darwinism and neo-Darwinism, simply asserts that all living
organisms arose from one simple, living cell.1
2. Define “theistic evolution.”
Theistic evolution asserts that God ordered and directed the evolutionary process.2
3. Is the dating of Adam important? Explain your answer.
To me it is not. It the genealogy is ordered and unbroken in scripture, then it is easy to
date Adam back to about 4000 B.C. If some genealogies are skipped (as some suggest)
then we have questions that Paul told Timothy not to debate about. 1Ti 1:4 “Neither give
heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly
edifying which is in faith: so do.”
I find that it simple appears that Adam was created about 6 thousand years ago and that
the theistic evolution theory is just trying to put evolution and Bible together, which to
me is nonsense.
4. When was the origin of the “soul” in man?
When God breathed the breath of life into the body of Adam.
Ge 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his
nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
5. Explain how dust cannot be a symbol for animal life.
“Dust cannot be a symbol for animal life. It is the inanimate, inorganic material which we
know as soil, or earth. Even after God had formed a human body from it, it was inanimate
and lifeless, requiring God to breathe life into it.”
